8 Local Favourites for Breakfast in Margaret River

Breakfast Losari

If breakfast is one of your favourite parts of a holiday, Margaret River will not disappoint. Around here, the first meal of the day might mean coffee beside the beach, a flaky pastry eaten on the run, a full café breakfast or something cooked slowly in your villa while you are still wearing your robe.

The only difficult part is working out where to go because there are so many great spots!

To help you plan, we have put together seven local favourite spots for breakfast in Margaret River. There is a mix of long-standing institutions, newer favourites, coastal views and one option that does not require leaving Losari at all.

Opening days and menus can change throughout the year, so it is always worth checking directly with each venue before heading out.

1. Stay In With a Losari Breakfast Hamper

We will start with the easiest option: breakfast in your own private villa.

Guests at Losari Retreat can arrange a gourmet breakfast hamper as an optional extra or choose a package that includes one. Your villa has a well-equipped kitchen, so you can prepare breakfast when you are ready rather than rushing to get somewhere before the kitchen closes.

Make a coffee using your nespresso coffee machine or a cup of tea (complimentary milk provided for every guest), cook together and enjoy breakfast overlooking the gardens or lake. There is no dress code, no queue and no need to finish by a particular time. Afterwards, you can take your coffee outside, return to your private jacuzzi or decide that breakfast has quietly turned into a very lazy morning.

If your idea of a good holiday involves moving as little as possible, this may be the best breakfast in Margaret River for you.

2. Margaret River Bakery

Margaret River Bakery, better known among locals as Margs Bakery, is one of those places visitors discover and locals keep returning to. Its eclectic interior, mismatched furniture and cabinets filled with freshly baked treats give it plenty of personality before you have even ordered.

Come here when you want a relaxed breakfast with plenty to choose from. Depending on the day, you might find fresh pastries, cakes, breakfast rolls, toasties and more substantial breakfast dishes. It is also a handy option if one person wants a proper sit-down meal while the other is perfectly happy with coffee and something from the cabinet.

The bakery can become busy, particularly on weekends and during school holidays. Arriving earlier gives you a better chance of finding a table and first choice of the pastries.

3. White Elephant Café

For breakfast with an ocean view, it is hard to go past White Elephant Café at Gnarabup Beach. As part of our Losari Local Perks, guests will receive a FREE coffee when visiting the White Elephant Café, collect your free coffee card on check-in.

The open-air café overlooks the water and has the easygoing atmosphere you would expect from a much-loved beachside spot. You can settle in for breakfast and coffee or grab something before walking along the sand.

The menu covers lighter options as well as satisfying breakfasts such as bacon-and-egg burgers. The real highlight, however, is the setting. On a clear morning, you can watch the ocean while you eat and may even spot dolphins offshore.

It is popular with swimmers, surfers and locals, so do not expect to have the place to yourself. That friendly morning bustle is part of the White Elephant experience.

4. Drift Café

Drift Café is a good choice when you want the classic café breakfast experience: quality coffee, generous plates and enough variety to keep everyone happy.

Located close to the centre of Margaret River, it works well before a day exploring the town, visiting cellar doors or heading towards the coast. Its breakfast menu includes familiar favourites alongside seasonal dishes, with options for those wanting something light and those arriving genuinely hungry.

Drift’s cosy setting also makes it a great option on cooler or wetter mornings when an outdoor breakfast does not sound quite as appealing. Order another coffee, take your time and work out the rest of the day once you have eaten.

5. Egberts

Egberts has developed a loyal local following for excellent coffee, French-inspired pastries and simple food done particularly well.

This is where you go when breakfast does not need to be enormous, it just needs to be good. Pick up an almond croissant or another freshly baked pastry, add a coffee and you have everything required for an easy Margaret River morning.

Egberts is also a useful stop if you have a full day planned and want to start early without committing to a long sit-down breakfast. Grab something to take away and continue towards the wineries, walking trails or beach.

Our advice? Do not leave your pastry selection too late. The display can look considerably emptier once the morning crowd has passed through.

6. Margaret River Farmers’ Market

If your stay includes a Saturday morning, make time for the Margaret River Farmers’ Market.

The market brings together local farmers, growers, bakers and food producers, giving you the chance to build breakfast as you go. Follow the smell of freshly brewed coffee, pick up something warm from one of the food stalls and browse locally made bread, pastries, fruit, cheese, preserves and other regional produce.

It is less of a traditional café breakfast and more of a local Saturday ritual. You can eat at the market, stock up for the rest of your stay or collect ingredients to take back and enjoy at Losari.

The market is also one of the best places to see what is currently in season and meet some of the people producing food across the region.

7. Sidekick Café

When locals need good coffee without making a major event of breakfast, Sidekick Café is a reliable choice.

Located in the centre of town, it is convenient for a quick morning stop before shopping, sightseeing or heading further into the region. Alongside coffee, you will generally find easy breakfast options such as wraps, toasties, banana bread and cabinet treats.

Sidekick has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and works particularly well when different people want different things. One person can sit down with breakfast while another grabs a takeaway coffee, and nobody has to negotiate an elaborate morning plan before they are properly caffeinated.

8. Sea Garden Café

If you are sneaking away for a morning surf, Sea Garden Café in Prevelly is the place to visit. Yes, it is the café with all the cool surfboards lined up along the front fence!

Settle in for breakfast and coffee after hitting the waves, or simply enjoy the relaxed coastal atmosphere without getting your feet wet. With ocean views and plenty of local surf character, it is an easy place to stretch breakfast into a slow morning by the coast.

How Will You Start Your Morning?

Finding a good breakfast in Margaret River is not difficult. The real decision is whether you want ocean views, excellent pastries, a busy local market or the luxury of not leaving your villa.

During a stay at Losari, you have time to try more than one. Head into town for coffee one morning, visit the farmers’ market on Saturday and leave at least one morning free for a slow breakfast at your villa.

Explore Losari Retreat’s luxury spa villas and start planning a Margaret River getaway with very good breakfasts and absolutely no need to rush.
